Crisis Counselor

Who are you?

You are a caring and dedicated professional that has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a Master's Degree in Counseling with an LSW/LPC or higher, and has previous experience providing crisis services. Your position as a Crisis Counselor is crucial to the community, to provide immediate crisis intervention and support to youths and families who may be experiencing significant psychological distress, and need assistance navigating traumatic situations.

You will be willing to travel across counties as needed, to provide support to our Findlay office as well. You will regularly use various computer apps including Microsoft Office, our HRIS, EHR and other online systems, with multiple logins often simultaneously. Have a valid Ohio driver's license, CPR/First Aid Certification, and be willing to submit background check and fingerprinting.

How you'll make a difference in this role:

Under guidance of the Crisis Supervisor, you respond to emergency requests for service including phone calls, walk-in requests for treatment, and referrals from other community sources. You will maintain the ability to be contacted during your scheduled work day, as well as have the ability to provide crisis intervention services within 30-60 minutes of initial call for treatment.

  • Conduct face-face interview with clients to determine presenting issues and whether hospitalization is needed
  • If hospitalization is needed, you will facilitate arrangements as needed
  • If hospitalization is not deemed necessary, you will provide counseling to clients and immediate family members to stabilize and develop specific plans for transition to treatment, including immediate safety plan
  • Promote the protocol of all crisis intervention services in the community
